Mirio Cosottini
My name is Mirio Cosottini,
I am a musician, a philosopher. Since I was a child I drew, now it is one of my means of expression that I love most. Perhaps the only real gift I have received is the ability to draw, a gift that I cultivate day by day with real passion.
There are faces that arouse my interest, live, in photos, on the web; I draw them starting from a detail until the signs become shapes, just in time to show the gap between totality and
completeness. In this difference I leave the door open to the imagination.
First I fall in love with a face, with one
look, of a cheek, of a wrinkle, of what the face conceals, of the silence it hides, of the
reaction that arouses in others. No project precedes my intention to get closer to
drawing. Then I take the pen and trace what I see, the projection of light, shadow, shape and color;
it condenses into a trait which, I understand, has its nature in the quality of my pictorial gesture, and which
it becomes autonomous, essential.
That sign that looks like a doodle, is full of imagination,together with the other signs it suggests a shape, an expression, an emotion. At a certain pointI stop drawing, but I don't make this decision, rather the drawing ceases, on the other hand mineit is not a composition, it is germinating and taking shape, a process that has no fulfillment, andfor this reason he dies for no reason.What I leave behind is the extension of the present time in which I spent, drawing. In thisgrasping the time of drawing and then letting go is the pleasant development of drawing.
